Dream turns to nightmare

A peek at one of Brad Jacobson's production shots. So far we haven't posted any of Lucy's character animation- trying to keep it a secret. But what's a Lucy blog without a glimpse of her in action?

This is the moment Lucy realizes she's not in Kansas any more. It's about to get ugly.

Brad you rock.

Ravi Kamble Govind Scarecrow entry for Concurso Arte y Animación

Ravi is a Lucy animator, and a great one at that, but there are many iAnimators not working on Lucy who've done great things with our rigs. I'd love to feature some of them in the coming weeks. Always fun to see what people are doing with these characters outside the scope of actual Lucy production. If you are one of those animators please drop me a line so we can showcase your work!

Thanks for this moment of pure evil Ravi-

Jason's CTN look of picture

This is so awesome. I've watched it a hundred times and still I'm in awe.

Scarecrow is animated by juggernaut Jason Ryan, lit by Larry Vasquez, surfaced by Barrett Davis, Scot Andreason, Megan Walker. He's modeled, rigged and surfaced by Victor Vinyals, designed by Pierre Perifel and voiced by C.V. Canoe. Audio by Jamey Scott.

Thanks to all of you for lending your genius!!

Imported Fairy Tale Nightmare and Lucy Plog

Hello all-

Just fyi I imported the blog posts from "Fairy Tale Nightmare" and my Lucy Plog from benrush.net so we now have the full history of Lucy production since its inception right here on Anatomy of a Nightmare. The newly imported posts are from 2009 to 2005.

Here you'll find Lucy's humble beginnings- including my original attempt at the story as a previz short (see April 2008), and the struggles of developing it as a feature, with many entries of great character/creature concept work by Pierre Perifel, Ken Morrissey and others (2009), onward and upward to our current high-flying animation!

I hope you enjoy!

Cheers,
b

Look of Picture Test

In time for CTN, we'll be pushing a shot through our interim pipeline- Jason Ryan's shot 27 from sequence 2. This won't be the look of the final film, but a sketch of how we might approach the lighting and surfacing of the environment and Scarecrow. Scarecrow is voiced by CV Canoe. Here is Jason's animation:

Surfacing treatment by Barrett Scott, Megan Wilson, and Scot Andreason (in 1 week!)

Lighting and rendering are forthcoming... stay tuned!
